Palestinian and Cuban Students Commemorate Nakba Day in Havana

Cuban and Palestinian students gathered on May 15 to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Nakba and condemn Israel’s genocide in Gaza. There are more than 200 Palestinian medical students in Cuba, many of them from Gaza.

Cuban and Palestinian students gathered on May 15 to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the Nakba and condemn Israel’s genocide in Gaza. There are more than 200 Palestinian medical students in Cuba, many of them from Gaza.

‘’Today we are at the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP), commemorating the 77th anniversary of the Nakba’’, says Motee.

‘’The greatest catastrophe the Palestinian people have experienced, who had to abandon their homes and flee to neighboring countries’’, says Wasim.

‘’Today, when we see the Cuban people supporting our cause,kids, young people, it means a lot to us’’ adds Yazan 

‘’A moment to reaffirm the support and solidarity of the Cuban people, Cuban state, and the entire civil society with the Palestinian cause’’ said Leonardo. 

‘’I’ll always be grateful, not only to the Cuban government, but to all the Cuban people. Because they are such nice, kind people and able to feel the pain of others.’’ claimed Motee

‘’The Nakba was the result of international silence and complicity in favor of Zionism’’ added Yazan 

‘’Today we see the massacres, the murders the Israeli army is committing against our people in Gaza. I’m from the Gaza Strip, and I’ve had more than 27 members of my family killed’’ claimed Motee. 

‘’Today we see children being burned alive in the Gaza Strip.’’ added Motee.

‘’We not only denounce the state of Israel, but also U.S. imperialism.’’ said Leonardo.

‘’I feel that Palestinians and Cubans share much more than a common enemy.’’ added Wasim

‘’They have struggled for their emancipation, having had a history based on repression, control, domination, and manipulation by the biggest foreign power in world history, the U.S., which has been directly responsible for affecting the people of Palestine and Cuba.’’ says Cristian.

‘’Aren't we Palestinians human beings? Don't we deserve to live like the rest of the world? That’s why we can’t stop fighting this massacre, this Nakba that the Israeli army commits against our people.’’ added Motee.
