Bob Menendez Begins 11-Year Prison Sentence
Former Senator Bob Menendez began his 11-year prison sentence Tuesday at a federal prison in Pennsylvania.
Once one of the most powerful politicians in the U.S., “Gold Bar” Bob was convicted for corruption and acting as an agent of a foreign government (Egypt).
For years he played a key role in shaping U.S. policy towards Cuba, and by many accounts helped convince the Biden administration to embrace Trump’s “maximum pressure” sanctions on the island.
Now, he will likely be sleeping in a dormitory-style room and repairing and recycling electronics at the Federal Correctional Institution Schuylkill in Minersville, Pennsylvania.
Watch our documentary Hardliner on the Hudson about Menendez’s rise to power, his links to terrorists and the disconnect between his constituents and his hard-line Cuba policy.
