“We all must be here, standing with the Palestinian people. I am deeply moved by what has happened. And as Che said: ‘We must always fight against injustice,’” said Georgina Vázquez, a retired doctor, as she held a Palestinian flag in her hands.
“I believe that each of us, by contributing even a little—by coming here—will help awaken part of the world’s conscience to finally put an end to this terrible genocide,” explained Gisela Palacio, a retired Havana resident, her voice trembling with emotion.
“It’s truly heartbreaking. Many children and adults are losing their lives,” shared Yaneris Fuentes, a worker at Havana’s National Hotel, while waving a sign that read Free Palestine.
“There are several YouTubers from Palestine who are broadcasting live what’s really happening there,” said Luis González, a university student. “There’s an enormous propaganda campaign aimed at distorting the truth about what’s actually going on in Palestine.”
As the crowd marched, chants filled the air: ‘Long live the Palestinian people’s struggle!’
“Cuban youth cannot turn their backs on this reality,” declared González. “We have already shown, many times, our solidarity with the Palestinian people—sharing and standing with brothers and sisters who study here in our country. Our people, as part of that internationalist, just and human cause, will always stand with Palestine. Free Palestine.”
